Get ready for a super cool adventure while exploring Budhanilkantha Hills. Imagine walking on paths that go up and up, surrounded by green trees and amazing views. It’s like stepping into a magical story!

Budhanilkantha, nestled in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal, is famed for the sacred site housing the colossal sleeping Lord Vishnu statue. This ancient deity, carved from a single stone, lies peacefully in a pond, attracting pilgrims and tourists alike with its divine aura.

Also, it’s surrounded by lush greenery, Budhanilkantha offers a serene escape from the bustling city life. Besides, the neighborhood, named after the revered deity, combines spiritual richness with natural beauty. Making it a tranquil destination if you’re seeking a blend of culture and tranquility in the heart of Nepal.

Moreover, my adventure isn’t just a hike, it’s a day full of fun and surprises in the hills. Are you ready for some hiking bliss in Budhanilkanta?

Let’s go!

Reaching to Hiking Trails of Budhanilkantha Hills

Now, telling you about my super cool adventure. I love hiking, especially short ones because I work a lot, and long hikes can be a bit tricky for me.

This time, I went on a short hike in Budhanilkanta municipality. To get there, I took a Shajha bus, which is a public bus in Nepal. It’s comfy and not too crowded. You can also go by taxi or your own vehicle if you want.

So, I hopped on the Shaja bus from Lagankhel to Narayanthan. It cost me 35 NPR and took about an hour. This bus will drop you off at Narayanthan, which is near a holy temple, and that’s where my hike started.

Now, here’s the scoop on getting to this awesome spot. Sure, you could grab a taxi, but hold onto your wallet because it might take a toll on your budget! Trust me, I’ve been there. But hey, don’t fret! There’s a nifty alternative, roll up in your own wheels, be it a slick two-wheeler or a cool four-wheeler. The road’s yours to conquer!

Ready for the adventure?

Once you step through the gate, get ready to conquer the trail that goes straight up. The path is like a cozy concrete carpet, totally comfy to stroll on. Trust me, it’s a breeze, especially for someone like me who’s had their share of icky, muddy roads with leeches.

If you’re up for it, a one-hour walk will get you to the destination. But hey, if you’re feeling fancy or just not in the mood for a trek, there’s a taxi stand near the Narayanthan temple waiting to whisk you away to your hilltop dreams. However, with the taxi, it’ll cost you 500 NPR to go up the hill.

But if you like to walk and get all sweaty and tired while chugging down liquids on the way, then please do follow my path.

On the way, you’ll find two paths after walking 100 meters. Remember, always take the left one. Why? Because the right one is the longest route, taking you all the way up and then walking down to reach the destination. My goodness I’ve been through this pain, so do listen to my advice.

With the left route, the view wasn’t all nature because of buildings, but it made things easier. You’ll find local shops for snacks and water or even rest and have some local tea. It’s up to you.

Well, I’m all about reaching my destination without any time to spare. But hey, when it comes to beautiful or amazing things, I can’t resist clicking photos. I mean, who can? Especially when I’m out hiking. Gotta showcase those walks for others to get inspired!

Let’s face it, adventures are meant to be shared, and I’m here to make every step count!

As you trek along, keep an eye out for Thakuri Tea & Grocery. The magical left turn that kicks off your adventure. Following the path, you’ll see Meraki Wellness Retreat, now take another left towards Treez Resort. Finally, you’ll see an intriguing broken iron gate.

Another Turn For The Fun

The place might seem a bit eerie from a distance, but believe me, it’s a lively spot with a whole community. My real goal was the fantastic Chisini Hills & Resort! And let me tell you, it’s a hidden gem with the mouthwatering Sukuti sadeko. It’s a special Nepali dish made with air-dried or smoke-dried meat. Besides, pair it up with some Chyang, it’s a combo that adds an extra zing to the whole experience!

As soon as I reached, I dashed to the counter and boldly ordered 3 plates of the mouthwatering Sukuti sadeko and a whole bottle of Chhyang (served in a cool 1-liter water bottle). And a side of crunchy Wai Wai sadeko.

And oh, let me spill the best part, the view! I totally forgot to mention it earlier, but the scenery along the way was pure magic.

Imagine standing on that hill, gazing over the entire Kathmandu valley. It was like nature painted its finest masterpiece, lush green trees, a gentle cool breeze, and the sun setting in the background.

Lost in the mesmerizing views, my food swiftly appeared. The flavors danced on my palate, and I polished off the delightful feast by 6:00 PM. Now, don’t label me a slow eater, I was sipping and savoring every moment.

Ah, the Chyang! It brought a gentle warmth, just enough to make me feel a tad tipsy. I’m not one to guzzle, when solo traveling, I keep it in check. Not a party animal with friends either, but I do enjoy a drink within my limits. Staying mindful is key, I need to be aware of my surroundings on these solo adventures!

After savoring the fantastic brunch (or whatever you call it), I happily forked over just 1200 NPR. A steal, considering the mouthwatering food and the view that felt like it should have cost as much! My stomach is satisfied, wallet not complaining, I call that a win.

Heading Back From Budhanilkantha Hills

As I strolled down the hills, you won’t believe how perfect the weather was. The sun wasn’t completely down, casting a warm dusk glow. The trees along the road turned everything into a beautiful, darkened scene. And guess what? I wasn’t the lone adventurer, the path was alive with fellow hikers. Most of them zipping around on their personal wheels, adding to the lively vibe of the descent.

The hills had stories, and I was walking right through them, surrounded by nature and kindred spirits.

Snapping pics along the way, I strolled for 45 minutes, soaking in the views and taking much-needed breaks. When I finally hit Narayanthan bus stop, uh-oh, no Shaja bus in sight! No biggie, I hopped onto a Micro Bus bound for Sundhara. The plan was to catch another bus from there, but time played tricks on me. Too late for buses, so I waved down a cab for a comfy ride back home. Life’s an adventure, right?

As the clock struck 8:00 PM, my hiking adventure’s chapter closed, but the night had more tales to unfold. Instead of heading straight home, my cravings led me to the enchanting Patan Durbar Square. Why, you ask? Popsicles and a dose of relaxation were calling my name. Home could wait, the Durbar Square had a unique charm that brought me ease.

Rolling in around 9:00 PM, fatigue hit me like a ton of bricks. Quick as a flash, I freshened up, treating myself to a warm, homemade meal. Believe it or not, I whipped up dinner, that’s how energetic I can be! But let’s get real, tiredness was my buddy that night. Post-feast, I embraced my bed like a child, drifting into a peaceful slumber.

Adventures by day, sweet dreams by night, that’s the rhythm of a day well-lived.

Until Next Time

So, that’s all for my adventure in exploring Budhanilkantha Hills. Here my adventure unfolded, nature told stories of surprises and wonders.

As stars lit up the night sky and my hiking memories lingered, I realized every adventure is like a special story. Whether walking the calm trails of Budhanilkanta or enjoying popsicles at Patan Durbar Square. Each moment became a memory in my heart’s travel diary.

So, dear readers, as you go on your adventures, listen to nature’s whispers and enjoy unexpected fun along the way. Until your next journey, explore, wander, and make each step count.

Adventure is like a story waiting to be written, and the world is your big book.

Happy Exploring!
